OBEDIENCE

Necessity of Obedience:
1. It is better to Obey - “Samuel said, “Does the Lord have as much delight in burnt
offerings and sacrifices As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better
than a sacrifice, And to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.” (1 Samuel 15:22)
2. We must Obey God – “But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God
rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)
3. It is necessary for purification – “Since you have purified your souls in obedience
to the truth for a sincere love of the brothers and sisters, fervently love one another

from the heart, for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable, but imper-
ishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.” (1 Peter 1:22-23-22)

4. It is necessary for salvation – “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will en-
ter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heav-
en will enter.” (Matthew 7:21)

Result of Obedience:

1. It results in eternal life - “And having been perfected, He became the source of eter-
nal salvation for all those who obey Him,” (Hebrews 5:9)

2. The obedient have the right to the tree of life – “Blessed are those who wash their
robes, so that they will have the right to the tree of life, and may enter the city by
the gates.” (Revelation 22:14)
3. Prayers will be answered – “Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we
have confidence before God; and whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because
we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.” (1 John
3:21-22)
4. The obedient will be blessed – “But one who has looked intently at the perfect
law, the law of freedom, and has continued in it, not having become a forgetful hearer
but an active doer, this person will be blessed in what he does.” (James 1:25)
