A LETTER FROM CHRIST

“... you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the
living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.” ~2 Cor. 3:2-3
Have you ever thought that your life is a letter that is being read by someone? If so, what does it
say to others?
An Advertising Circular?
Recommends my own virtues heartily and continuously? Printed in large 42-point type? Lots of
exclamation points?
Perhaps resembling a bill?
Welcomed with the same joy we have when receiving a bill from month to month? “You owe me
such and such. Please pay now?”
A Message from Christ?
“Follow me?”
Christ has no hands but our hands to do His work today,
He has no feet but our feet to lead men in His way;
He has no tongue to tell men how He died,
He has no help but our help to bring them to His side.
We are the only Bible the careless world will read,
We are the sinners’ gospel, we are the scoffers’ creed;
We are the Lord’s last message given in deed and word,
What if the type is crooked? What if the print is blurred?
What if our hands are busy with other things than His?
What if our feet are walking where sin’s allurement is?
What if our tongues are speaking of things His life would spurn,
How can we hope to help Him and welcome His return? ~Annie J. Flint
Do our lives point to anything beyond us or above us? Do they seem to others as a letter from
Christ? If so, “Well done good and faithful servant.”
